Eliana Tranchesi, owner of Daslu, arrested in Sao Paulo.
Eliana Tranchesi, the owner of posh boutique/department store Daslu, that carries the finest international and national brands and caters the rich of the rich of Brazilian society, has been arrested in Sao Paulo today. The arrest is a result of an on going criminal investigation, dating back to 2000, involving a tax evasion scheme of over 1 billion reais. The owner and her brother Antonio Carlos Piva de Albuquerque have been sentenced to 94 years and 6 months in prison for fraudulent importing, organized crime, and tax evasion.

The shop’s display of wealth and sophistication in a country where most of the population is poor has always generated controversy and attracted the attention of media outlets such as the NYT and the Business of Fashion. Read their articles here:

Valentino, the film.
“Valentino, the Last Emperor”, a film about the Italian designer premiered last year in the Venice Film Festival but a recent event in New York has given it the publicity it was missing. In an interview with the lovely Cathy Horyn, filmmaker Matt Tyrnauer explains his approach on the documentary, giving a different outlook in the glamorous world of the designer and his life with long term partner Giancarlo Giammetti.

Matthew Williamson for H&M: one more look into the collection
New pictures of the Matthew William + H&M line have surfaced
I must say I’m a big fan of the prints already, and I’m loving the scarf! The jacket/waistcoast might look a bit cheap though.

Word on the street is that that belt looks exactly like one from Williamson’s own line? Poor poor loyal customers, I bet they feel a bit cheated now!



You can definitely see a lot of the designer’s signature style, the bright colours, the amazing patterns, the peacock feathers (not the MW on the necklace as well)
